Cashew nut contains both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. They are also rich in minerals like copper, zinc, magnesium, calcium and even vitamin K. Homemade fermented cashew nut yogurt contains all these essential mineral, making them ideal for a healthy bone and powerful healthfulness.

Recipe:

Any nut of your choice, such as – cashew nut, tiger nut, macadamia nuts, almonds among others.
300 ml of your preferred nut water.
Half teaspoon probiotic powder or 2 capsules.

Preparation:

Rinse your preferred nut and drain off water.
Soak in fresh water for at least 12 hours.
Put in a high-speed blender and blend with the water and probiotic powder to form a thick mixture.
Transfer to a bowl or glass and cover tightly with grease proof to avoid forming crust on top.
Keep in a warm space for 12 – 24 hours.
Then place in the fridge for 4 – 5 days.

Taste and get a slightly sour yogurt taste.

How Can I Speed Up Soaking Nuts – For Homemade Fermented Cashew Nut Yogurt?

When in a hurry, you can soak them for 15 minutes in very hot but not boiling water. To use this hot water method, boil water then remove it from the heat for two minutes. Pour over the cashews. After soaking, sieve out the soaking liquid and rinse the cashews thoroughly.
Note: Soaking your nut in advance is better to make the blending process easier. Again, it improves digestibility in the stomach.

Can You Freeze Homemade Fermented Cashew Nut Yogurt?

Homemade fermented cashew nut yogurt will last in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. It can be frozen for up to 6 months. If you choose to freeze it, make sure you run it through the blender immediately you defrost it to eliminate any lumps.
